Ayr staff receive volunteering award
Staff from the Ayr office of Affinity Trust Scotland were delighted to receive awards for volunteering from Voluntary Action South Ayrshire at a ceremony on 4th June 2015.
The team, of Geraldine, Shane, Clare, Marie, Elaine, Kevin and Jade, were recognised for their commitment to the Affinity Trust Activity Club. They regularly donate their time on a Tuesday evening to help run the Club.
Some 100 people with learning disabilities, both those supported by Affinity Trust and by other providers, now regularly attend the club, which provides a great social environment. Attendees enjoy the bingo sessions, arts and crafts, karaoke, discos, parties, theme nights, days out and barbeques.
Geraldine, who is the Operations Manager based in Ayr said: ‘The club has proved incredibly popular as it provides somewhere for adults with learning disabilities to socialise where there was nothing before. My team are dedicated volunteers at the club, and I am thrilled that this commitment has been recognised by Voluntary Action South Ayrshire.’
