Shipley and Airedale services rated ‘Good’
Affinity Trust’s services in Shipley and Airedale have received a ‘Good’ rating in their most recent inspection from CQC.
The Shipley and Airedale services provide both supported living and outreach programmes. At the time of the inspection, the services provided support to 89 people, with 41 people in supported living. They received ‘Good’ in all five categories, these being: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
During the inspection, the CQC spoke with 14 people supported by the services by telephone. They also visited four supported living houses and spoke with the people living there as well as some of their support workers.
One person we support said to the CQC: “I get to do lots of things and the staff help me a lot. They help me to sort out my money because I’m not very good at that.” Another person said: “They are all decent people and they are all very good. I am very safe and I like it here.”
A relative of a person we support thought that Affinity Trust was both safe and effective in their training and delivery of support. They said: “My relative has experienced abuse previously in residential care and that has left them with depression and nightmares. I can’t fault the support workers from Affinity Trust. They have done a lot of relevant training and know how to sooth them.”
The people supported by the Shipley and Airedale services were happy and comfortable with their support teams. One person said: “I’m very happy. I tell them what I need and they ask me as well. They are very cheerful and nice. I like (named support worker) very much.”
The CQC report noted that the staff were caring. They stated: “During the home visits we observed staff were kind and compassionate in their interactions with people. We observed staff respected people’s dignity and privacy, for example in one of the supported living houses we saw a member of staff took the person into their bedroom to support them with their medication.”
