Andrew and Jody get engaged
Andrew and Jody, who both attend Score Community Opportunities in Hereford, got engaged recently. We asked them about the proposal and their plans for the wedding.
How long have you been coming to Score?
Jody: It’s been a long time, isn’t it Andrew?
Andrew: A long time, yes.
What do you enjoy most about Score?
Jody: I enjoy doing Admag [a local newspaper delivered by the people we support] with my group and I also like doing crafts with Andrew if it happens that we come in on the same day.
Andrew: I enjoy crafts too.
Jody: You often do nice things. I love the things you made for me.
Andrew: I love you, that’s why.
Tell me about the first time you met.
It was ages ago. We first met at drama. [Jody and Andrew act with the Living Book Theatre Company.]
Tell me about the proposal. Did Andrew choose the ring?
Jody: At the start I felt shaky and surprised, but when Andrew got down on his knee and gave me the ring…he’s just the one for me, he said the right words.
Andrew: I chose the ring, oh yes I did and my brother said it was a good choice too.
Were you nervous beforehand?
Andrew: I felt shy.
Jody: Excitement came in and when you got down on your knee…! I was excited!
Tell us about the wedding
Andrew: It’s lots to think of…
Jody: We are thinking of the date. We need to send invitations. We are thinking of next year maybe…
Andrew: First I want my stag do at the Red Lion.
Jody: That’s fine and if it’s about me, I’m doing my hen party in Andrew’s when he is down the pub with his mates!
Andrew: Yeah, I’ll be at Red Lion!
