Tanya Barron to be new Chair

Affinity Trust has appointed Tanya Barron as its new Chair.

Ms Barron is the outgoing Chief Executive of Plan UK, a post she has held since 2013. Previously, she was International Director at Leonard Cheshire Disability. She currently holds non-executive roles on the boards of the Disasters Emergency Committee and Hertfordshire NHS Trust.

Ms Barron said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead the Board of Affinity Trust which does such wonderful work and is such an exciting organization to be joining”.

Leo Sowerby, Chief Executive of Affinity Trust, said: “Tanya was the outstanding candidate from a very strong field. She will formally join the board of trustees in June, becoming Chair when Malcolm Thomas ends his term of office in September.

“Malcolm has been an excellent Chair, presiding over 11 years of significant growth and development at Affinity Trust. He will be handing to Tanya overall responsibility for a thriving provider of support for people with learning disabilities.”
