“The staff are all excellent there”
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated Affinity Trust’s support in Norfolk ‘Good’ in all five categories – caring, effective, responsive, safe and well-led.
The inspection by CQC, the independent regulator of social care in England, took place in September. Affinity Trust supports 26 people in Norfolk, mostly with supported living.
The inspection was carried out by one inspector and one ‘Expert by Experience’. They spoke to people being supported by Affinity Trust, family members, staff and health professionals. They also reviewed a variety of records, such as staff recruitment files and medication records.
The inspectors found:
-
Staff treated people kindly and respectfully.
-
People were encouraged to identify goals they wanted to achieve, and staff supported people to achieve these.
-
There was a positive inclusive culture, and staff morale was good.
-
The management team was reflective and open, and worked with other professionals to improve the support offered.
Family members spoke highly of the support their relatives received, one saying: “I couldn’t be happier…I never thought I would see the day they would move into supported living, but the transition was brilliant.” Another commented: “The staff are all excellent there.”
The ‘Good’ rating for Norfolk means that all Affinity Trust’s registered locations in England have been rated ‘Good’ by CQC for more than a year.
