Tammy is Woman of the Year

Tammy, who Affinity Trust supports at her home in Keighley, is ‘over the moon’ after winning the Woman of the Year award from her local Slimming World group.

Since joining Slimming World in January 2019, Tammy has lost over three stone. Her staff team supported her from the start – going with her to Slimming World meetings, and supporting her to buy and prepare healthier food: wraps instead of rolls, yoghurt, and plenty of Tammy’s favourite fruit.

During lockdown, Tammy couldn’t go to Slimming World at all. But her support team – Julie, Pam and Sue – still supported her to weigh herself every week, and to stick to her new eating routines. They also devised walking games to encourage her to exercise in the garden, with her housemates Ann and Marcia.

Staff even presented Tammy with their own award as she passed her three-stone milestone, to add to the awards she’d already had from Slimming World.

The extra support worked. Despite spending so much time indoors, Tammy lost another seven pounds during lockdown. She has now lost over three and a half stone in all.

Tammy was delighted when Slimming World reopened in September. She loves talking to the group about what she has been doing, as well as listening to other people’s stories.

Sally, who leads Tammy’s support team, says: “Tammy has done amazingly well and has really changed her way of thinking about food. Tammy is now back to enjoying exercise, and loves to dance and do lots of walking.

“Everyone she knows notices how much more active she is, and how she seems much happier.”
