The International Day of Charity
The International Day of Charity is a unique opportunity to promote peace, tolerance, and compassion worldwide. It was founded by the Hungarian Civil Society Initiative to raise awareness of the importance of charity and to help create a sense of community through charitable acts.
We believe at Affinity Trust that there’s nothing better than giving back. But what if you don’t have the means to do that? The good news is that you can still participate in International Charity Day. It’s a day when people worldwide come together to help their local communities and give back to their families and friends. From charities providing medical care for those who need it most to listening to someone in need. There are many ways communities have made a difference in people’s lives over time!
Many people we support choose to contribute or volunteer to the local community in some way, including fundraising. Shaun, whom we support, helped raise money for Archway Respite Care. He talked about his Great Kilt Walk and how the whole experience was amazing! Connie and her team helped the people they support who wanted to raise money for a project called ‘Out Spoken’ by having a store at Leeds pride. It’s an objective of modern care to have people supported and integrated into communities. Great examples of giving back.
The 5th of September was chosen to commemorate the passing of Mother Teresa. She was known for her dedication to charitable work, caring for the most vulnerable and overcoming poverty, suffering and distress.
Everyone has different causes they feel passionate about, whether it be learning disabilities or health issues. By shining a light on charity, International Day of Charity may help you find a cause you feel eager to learn more about!
We at Affinity Trust would like to spread the word and bring awareness to all the other charities out there, and we hope you find one that you are motivated by. This day presents you with a great opportunity to get involved in the charity events that are going on around the world.
