Debbie is a support worker based in Yorkshire. In her role, it is Debbie’s task to ensure Jayne gets the opportunity to live as independent and fulfilling a life as possible.
Along with a team of colleagues, Debbie supports Jayne to do this in a number of ways. This may include tasks such as making Jayne a cup of tea right up to support with personal care.
Being Jayne’s support worker gives Debbie a lot of satisfaction. Jayne is naturally a very inquisitive person and enjoys going to new places and meeting people. It is Debbie’s role to help organise and manage these trips, whether it is to a nearby town for a look around the shops, or a visit to the seaside – something which Jayne particularly enjoys during the summer months.
Prior to supporting Jayne, Debbie received specific training relating to Jayne’s support requirements. Jayne has a number of high-support needs.
Affinity Trust is committed to equipping staff such as Debbie with the right level of expertise, but ultimately it is her drive and dedication which ensures Jayne receives the best possible support.
“As a support worker, my role is varied and presents many different challenges every day. Ultimately though, it gives me a great deal of pleasure to see Jayne – as well as those closest to her – living happily through my support, making my role all the more worthwhile.”
