Supporting people with housing
We can help people referred to us for support with housing.
We start by working with the person we support, their family and professionals, to develop a housing specification. This describes in detail what type of property is needed, where it should be located, and any adaptations needed to make the property just right.
We work with housing associations that can:
-
provide properties for rent
-
purchase a property specifically for the person to be supported
-
lease properties from private landlords – this gives more choice and the added reassurance of a housing association landlord.
Affinity Trust also has its own housing arm, Millbrook Property Services (MPS), a specialist landlord for people with disabilities. MPS sometimes has vacancies in properties it already owns. In the last few years MPS has developed properties for people with complex needs.
Affinity Trust staff help in the property search and liaise between everyone involved to make sure the right property is found. We then support the person with the move into their new home.
For more information about how we can provide housing support, please contact your local Affinity Trust office.
The housing options available depend on where a person lives.
