Finding a home for Ruth
Ruth lives in her own self-contained flat in Leicestershire, in a scheme developed by Affinity Trust.
The development was part-funded by the Transforming Care programme. There are three other flats on the site, as well as separate staff accommodation. The property is managed by our housing arm Millbrook Property Services.
Each flat has interior design features to make them suitable for people with complex needs. Each flat is single storey, and has its own entrance and its own garden.
Before moving here, Ruth was living in a hospital environment that was noisy and restrictive. She couldn’t use her bedroom and kitchen during the day. Her computer was in a locked room elsewhere in the hospital. Her behaviour became increasingly challenging.
Affinity Trust worked with the community nursing team to ensure a smooth transition for Ruth to her new home. Ruth was one of the first tenants to move in.
We organised visits for Ruth ahead of the move, and trained her staff team to ensure they could meet Ruth’s needs
Ruth loves her new home. She has personalised it to her own interior design tastes.
